Privacy Policy

This policy explains the information handled by the Story Pointing Hub website, web application, and related application services.

Effective date: September 27, 2026

Information we handle

You do not need an account to use Story Pointing Hub. When you use an estimation room, the service handles the information you choose to enter, including your display name, an optional room name, story or ticket descriptions, configured point values, votes, and room activity.

The service also creates room codes, participant identifiers, and private participant credentials so you can enter and reconnect to a room. Please do not enter confidential, sensitive, or personal information in room names or story descriptions.

If you email support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. Our hosting providers may also process standard technical information such as IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, browser or device information, and error or security events in server logs.

How we use information

We use this information to operate real-time estimation rooms, authenticate room participants, show room activity and results, create reports requested by a moderator, respond to support requests, protect the service, diagnose problems, and maintain reliability.

Storage and retention

Active room data is held in server memory. A room is removed when a moderator ends it, when it expires after inactivity, or when the application service restarts. Story Pointing Hub does not provide permanent room history or user accounts.

On the web, room credentials and the latest room snapshot are stored in your browser's local storage so that the same browser can reconnect. Native application credentials are held in application memory for the current session. You can remove browser data through your browser settings; ending a room also invalidates its credentials.

Operational and security logs and support email may remain for as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and comply with legal obligations. Backups and provider systems may retain copies for a limited additional period.

Analytics, advertising, cookies, and similar technologies

Story Pointing Hub uses Google Analytics to understand use of the marketing site and web application. Its default measurements may include page views, interactions, session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information. Depending on your location and consent choices, Google Analytics may use a first-party _ga cookie or receive measurements without cookies. We do not send names, story or ticket descriptions, votes, participant credentials, or complete room-code URLs to Google Analytics.

The site currently displays no advertisements. If Google AdSense is enabled on selected web pages, Google and other third-party advertising vendors may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to serve, limit, personalize, and measure ads; prevent fraud and abuse; and produce advertising reports. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use advertising cookies based on visits to this site and other sites.

If advertising is enabled, where required, Google's certified consent management platform will ask for and communicate your advertising choices before personalized advertising is used. Depending on your location and choices, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, limited, or unavailable.

Learn more about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, manage personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and review industry opt-out choices at WebChoices.

Privacy and cookie settings

When information is shared

Room information is shared with other people who have access to the same room. Votes remain hidden from other participants until the moderator reveals them. A moderator can generate and share a room report.

We may share information with service providers that host, deliver, secure, or support the service, and with advertising providers as described above. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a transfer of the service. We do not directly sell participant registration or profile data, because the service does not collect or maintain accounts or profiles.

Your privacy choices

You can avoid entering optional information, leave or end a room, clear local browser storage, adjust browser cookie controls, and use the advertising privacy controls linked above. Where applicable, you may ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict our handling of personal information, or object to or withdraw consent for certain processing.

Because rooms are temporary and we do not require accounts, we may be unable to identify data as yours without enough information to locate it. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. You may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.

Children's privacy

Story Pointing Hub is a workplace collaboration tool and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the service to submit personal information about children.

International processing

Story Pointing Hub and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy protections may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date.
